Below, the results show that fast CPU as in the 2017 iMac 5K can work wonders—it competes very favorably considering that it has only 4 CPU cores!
The iMac Pro 10 is effectively no faster than the 8-core 3.3 GHz 2013 Mac Pro—suprising, but there it is. It might be that the algorithms used could be improved. But mainly, some of the files (Nikon D850 and Fujifilm GFX and Canon 5Ds R) use lossless compression and before any raw processing occurs, the file has to be decompressed, and that is a single threaded operation.
