OWC Thunderbay Mini

Thunderbay Mini configurations start at about $379 without drives. Thunderbay Mini RAID-5 edition also available.

MPG used SoftRAID 5.0.4 to initialize and test with the various flavors of RAID.

Since the unit was supplied for teesting with brand-new drives in packaging, so they were screwed into the drive sleds and installed. Then they were initialized as shown with the screen shots that follow. An off-the-shelf unit with drives installed has all this done already.

Select the 4 drives, then choose Volume => New. By default the volume will be all the available capacity, but a smaller size can be chosen (to make more than one volume, repeat)
