Part of the time required for processing Canon EOS 5Ds R lossless-compressed raw files is single-threaded only, as for all ZIP-style compression.
The 2019 iMac 5K takes almost twice as long as the 2019 Mac Pro.
The 2019 Mac Pro has 16 cores at 3.2 Ghz versus 8 cores at 3.6 GHz for the 2019 iMac 5K, yielding an expected differntial of (16 X 3.2) / (8 X 3.6) = 1.78X clock cycles ratio. And yet the Mac Pro does substantially better than that, which means some other ingredients are at play. Scalability be near perfect for starters, but it seems likely that the 3.6X greater memory bandwidth of the Mac Pro comes to bear on slowing down the iMac 5K.
