MPG tested a fully-loaded 2017 MacBook Pro with 1TB SSD.

This test is as real world as it gets, one that Lloyd does frequently for generating lens rendering aperture series. This particular job applies to much of my work, such as for this lens comparison. It is a time-consuming and work-stopping task, so performance is very welcome.

Photoshop does not use CPU cores well for this test, though it is not entirely single threaded. It is a javascript-driven script that generates series of images.

The iMac 5K wins out of course, but the big disappointment here is that the 2017 MacBook Pro takes about 9% longer than the 2015 MBP to get the job done—a downgrade in performance.
