Mercury Aura Pro 6G SSD for MacBook Air Impressions
I wrote about the OWC Mercury Aura Pro 6G SSD for the MacBook Air back in September, just prior to a trip. (see OWC pricing).
Because of my flaky MacBook Air (flaky with the Apple SSD, not related to the Aura), my true field testing (on a trip) has been delayed.
However, the 240GB Aura Pro SSD has been performing flawlessly in the MacBook Air, and even under casual use, applications and file are snappier to open, as they should be with an SSD offering 60-80% higher performance than the Apple (Samsung) SSD.
Moreover, the capacity choices (between 3G and 6G models), and the 3 year warranty are compelling reasons to consider the OWC Mercury Aura Pro 6G SSD, on top of the superlative performance. And it’s a valuable upgrade path, since Apple won’t sell you a larger SSD for the MacBook Air.
Also, when you remove the Apple SSD, you can install it into an OWC Mercury Elite Pro mini case for use as an external drive.
