Mercury Aura Pro 6G SSD for MacBook Air

Looking for a larger and much faster SSD for your 2011 MacBook Air?

Other World computing has begun shipping the OWC Mercury Aura Pro 6G SSD for the 2011 MacBook Air.

I’ve just installed the 240GB model into my 2011 13" MacBook Air. Installation takes about 5 minutes using the supplied tools.

I installed the original 128GB Samsung (Apple) SSD into an OWC Mercury Elite Pro Mini case with an internal adapter. I then used Disk Utility to Restore from the original SSD to the internal 240GB Aura Pro 6G

Since the Apple (Samsung) SSD in the MacBook Air is only a 3G drive, it is limited to about 250-260MB/sec (as per DiskTester). By comparison, observe that the OWC Mercury Aura Pro 6G SSD runs 60-80% faster than the Apple SSD. Good stuff!

I’ll give the Mercury Aura Pro 6G some more testing after I return from my bike race. I will be using the MacBook Air with the Aura Pro on my trip.
