OS X El Capitan: Image Capture Now Hangs Sometimes
I wrote OS X El Capitan: Worst OS Release Yet — and it was not hyperbole. There are numerous new bugs in OS X El Crapitan, and few OS X Yosemite bugs are fixed. Well, I found one (1) bug fixed, so that is something.
Apple Mail is particularly awful, having destroyed all my VIP mailboxes in their entirety—empty now. The quoting of selected text for replies is now broken in some cases. Search is badly broken in numerous cases (in spite of using mdutil to force a complete re-index). And so on. Apple Mail is an incompetent mess. If there were a programmer’s version of the TV reality show “Jackass”, Apple would be a prime participant. Is Eddy Cue the issue?
Crap release quality on top of massive core rot.
Here is a simple example: I wanted to scan a document. Image Capture just kept hanging, after any number of quit/reopen cycles. And with both printers/scanners. This never happened in Yosemite. I had to force-quit “Image Capture Extension” in Activity Monitor to bring it back to life. Is there no quality assurance test cycle process in place at Apple any more?
