Apple iOS 7 Icons

When I compare iOS 6 to iOS 7 icons, I immediately think “Microsoft on a good day, or maybe Samsung, well no surprise there”. But to be fair to those companies, theirs might be better.

The iOS 7 icons are 'beige' boring dull, devoid of visual interest. Plain, shallow, boring, flat, institutional (with color), tacky, cheesy, ineffective and lobotomized.

To my eye, this new design trend blunts the elegance of iOS.

There is even an intellectual disconnect: the camera icon now looks like a DSLR, a fading market in an era where most photos are now taken on camera phones. The irony of this icon being used on an iPhone is not lost on me, a photographer who uses a DSLR. The old icon at least looked like what the picture is taken through: a lens.
