Thanks to Other World Computing for making the iMac available for testing, as well as the 32GB of 1600 MHz memory.

The Photoshop CS6 Edit => Auto Align Layers is used to align different frames, such as when making a stitched panorama with multiple images overlapping each other.

In spite of its 3.4 GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, the late 2012 iMac isn’t really any faster than a Mac Pro or even a MacBook Pro on many tasks, and its “fast” GPU is of no help whatsoever on jobs like this.
