OWC Thunderblade Thunderbolt 3 SSD: Sustained Transfer Speed

MPG tested the 8TB OWC Thunderblade Thunderbolt 3 SSD. Available in 1/2/4/8TB/16TB configurations.
This page shows the sustained transfer performance of the 8TB OWC Thunderblade using large I/O transfer sizes.
Performance as tested: sustained transfer speed across capacity
DiskTester is part of diglloydTools. The DiskTester fill-volume test writes 1000 equal-size files to the drive with large I/O sizes (128 Mib), then read/verifies the data.
During this test, the Thunderblade became just slightly warm, never hot and was completely silent.
The speed is jaw-dropping across the entire 8TB of capacity for both reads and writes. This is about as fast as a Thunderbolt 3 SSD can go (2.7 GB/sec).
Equally if not more important for high-end applications, performance is kept in a tight band, so there are no performance suprises for work where very high speeds without dropouts are needed.
Speed in MB/sec is real-world, including operating system file system overhead (not unrealistic driver-level calls).
