Turning off some of these items also increases security, by eliminating potential access to your Mac:

  • Universal Access
  • Speech Recognition
  • Bluetooth
  • File sharing
  • Web sharing
  • Any other sharing service;
  • AirPort.
  • Logged-in users other than yourself.

Most of these are found in the System Preferences panel.
