MPG tested the 2020 iMac 5K 3.6 GHz Intel Core i9 10-core / 128GB / 2TB / Radeon 5700. Smart move: buy with 8GB memory, then add 64GB or 128GB OWC memory to save a ton on memory cost (same memory as 2019 iMac 5K).

Adobe Camera Raw Enhance Details is a GPU-intensive task that uses 4-5 CPU cores as well. But the GPU utilization varies oddly across machines, as the screen shots show further below.

The 2020 iMac 5K does about 10% better than the 2019 iMac 5K. Perhaps the 5700 XT would do a nudget better, a few more percent—not worth the upgrade cost.
With the huge cost (over $2000) of the Vega II video card in the 2019 Mac Pro, the 28-core 2019 Mac Pro with Vega II video card gives a pathetic result in terms of cost/value.

Below, toggle to compare: the 2019 iMac 5K shows 100% GPU utilization, whereas the 2020 iMac 5K only about 50%, and the 2019 Mac Pro only about 33%. What gives?
It goes to show that a “faster” GPU is only as fast as the application and operating system allow it to be utilized.
