The 2017 iMac 5K is an impressively strong upgrade over the 2015 iMac 5K, much greater performance boost than I had expected—between a 5% faster CPU and 40% faster SSD and a much faster GPU, it all comes together nicely.

The speed gains over the 2015 model are about as good as one every gets for a new model, and in some scenarios rivals the fastest 2013 Mac Pro (one that Apple won’t sell you). Still, my 2013 Mac Pro remains top of the heap, 3.5 years later.
