For Nearly Two Years, the OWC Envoy Pro EX Delivers the Portability and Backup Speed For Travel
For almost two years now, the OWC 480GB Envoy Pro EX has served me during my photography trips, providing 480GB (or 1TB or 240GB) in a pocket-size and bus-powered format in its handy cloth carrying case. On a recent trip, I reflected on just how admirably this diminutive little SSD has served me (less so the 2013 Apple MacBook Pro on which one of the two USB ports has gotten loose and sloppy and thus flaky).
Every day, I download the day’s shoot to my laptop, then clone the internal laptop volume to the Envoy Pro EX. Stored separately from the laptop (should the laptop in its bag be stolen), the mini drive is a solid insurance policy against loss of my work*, which can never be replaced, only re-done, yet never the same.
Of course, the OWC Envoy Pro EX can do much more than be used as a backup drive, but for travel and/or backup, its form factor is just terrific.
