Apple iMac 3.4 GHz Coming for Testing

Thanks to a loaner unit from Other World Computing, I will have an Apple iMac 27" 3.4 GHz with Fusion drive arriving for testing next week.

My intent is to make a similar performance survey as I did for the Mac Mini, but this time I can test with 8/16/32GB memory also.

Among other things, I will also test the ultra-fast OWC Helios / Accelsior PCIe SSD Thunderbolt setup, especially since there is no easy way to add an internal SSD to the iMac. See the impressive performance boost that the Helios/Accelsior can deliver for the MacMini.

The 27" iMac at 3.4 GHz really deserves 32GB, so trade in the stock 8GB and then get 32GB at OWC for about $218. That nets out the price to about $198.
