Several readers have inquired about the new Drobo models. I was not a fan of the original Drobo for a variety of headaches (performance being a total drag), but the new models sport USB3 and Thunderbolt. And so presumably they are faster, but a product is the whole thing, not just specs on paper (speed, reliability, noise, support, driver quality, cost, etc).

I have sent a request to the Drobo PR agency for a review unit of the Drobo 5D and Drobo Mini. I don’t yet know if my request will be granted.
