Apple Mac Pro Non-Upgrade
Not even a stinkin' upgrade to the graphics card.
The changes to the Apple Mac Pro seen today are inconsequential. Nothing except a trivial CPU change (well, the sluggish 8-core 2.4 GHz is now a sluggish 12-core, and 3.06 GHz is 0.4% faster than 2.93 GHz). Perhaps Apple’s professional customers are also inconsequential to Apple.

Apple memory and hard drives remain priced 2-3X the price of OWC memory and OWC hard drives. And OWC can sell you 48GB memory, whereas Apple still doesn’t offer more than 32GB for the 6-core, or 64GB for the 12-core.
The hidden 6-core
The workhorse 3.33 GHz 6-core model has dropped to under $3000.
The 6-core 3.33 GHz Mac Pro continues to be hidden under the “Quad-core” option, a strange way to present the sweet spot of the Mac Pro line.
The 3.33 GHz 6-core Mac Pro remains (by far) the best choice for all-around work. Upgrade yours to an MPG Pro Workstation.
