Update on Mac Pro Video Card Sleep Issue and DisplayPort Cables

Please see my December 11 entry for details on yet another problem cable and still no solution, but the good news is that NEC is sending me a cable that they think will solve the issue. If so, I’ll certainly be trumpeting that fact here ASAP.
Meanwhile, Apple evades the issue with a lame tech note that sidesteps the question of a solution.
Apple seems to think that no one buys anything but their obnoxious mirror-finish screens, and the tech note ignores the fact that it’s the 2010 Mac Pro that provoked this headache. The GT120 in the 2009 Mac Pro didn’t have this problem; Apple introduced it with the 2010 Mac Pro. As if the advice to “visit www.vesa.org” somehow is a solution. Take responsibility Apple, and come up with a solution for your customers who are dropping $4K - $10K into a Mac Pro system.
