Fujitsu 320GB

Last updated 2009-06-01 - Send Feedback
Related: hard drive, storage

The Fujitsu 320GB 5400rpm hard drive is supplied by Apple in the 2009 MacBook Pro as the base-level option. And it truly is a “dog”.

If your MacBook Pro or MacBook has this drive, you can get an instant performance boost by installing a faster hard drive.

Get a fast drive at site sponsor OWC Computing. OWC is one of the few vendors with a drive replacement guarantee, well worth the piece of mind and convenience. Please give OWC your business by clicking any of the ads or links in this Guide.

At much lower cost than Apple, with more options.
Lloyd recommends 64GB for iMac or Mac Pro for photography/videography.

Area tests

These across-the-drive tests with 1MB and 32MB transfers are fast approximations of drive performance across the drive. Drive speed is slow, ranging to abysmal as the drive fills up beyond 80%.

See Why you need more space than you need to understand the performance decline across the drive.
