Mercury Accelsior 'E2' PCIe SSD with Dual eSATA Ports
See the other pages of this OWC Mercury Accelsior PCIe SSD review for an overview and test results.
The OWC Mercury Accelsior E2 appeared in late April 2013 (notes based on production cards received for testing in early April).
The 'E2' value proposition
The Accelsior was already a terrific value on the ultra high performance front, but the addition of eSATA ports is a very practical benefit: it cuts out the need for an extra PCIe card for eSATA (saves money, adds convenience), and it provides legacy connectivity for eSATA backup drives.
The Accelsior E2 variant sports dual eSATA ports, a boon for anyone looking to have both eSATA connectivity and a PCIe SSD; on a 2008-2012 Mac Pro this saves a precious PCIe slot (there are only three open slots).
The Accelsior E2 can be used on any Mac with Thunderbolt in the OWC Mercury Helios enclosure, thus adding both a PCIe SSD and dual eSATA ports.
