MPG tested a fully-loaded Apple 2018 MacBook Pro 15-inch 2.9 GHz 32GB 2TB Radeon Pro 560X. The only better model is the same configuration with a 4TB SSD.
See the MPG recommendations for iMac Pro, backup, peripherals. Not sure which Mac to get or how to configure it? Consult with MPG.
This page uses the mt stress of diglloydTools MemoryTester to evaluate memory bandwidth by a real application. Not to be confused with memory or CPU specifications—this is the real deal, what an application actually has available to it.
Memory bandwidth can be affected by CPU throttling (for reasons of excess heat), so these figures represent what is possible with sustained memory access for 3+ minutes.
The 2018 MacBook Pro improves substantially over the 2015 MacBook Pro, but is essentially the same as the 2016 and 2017 MacBook Pro, so that's not saying much. It’s a pity that it does not have quad-channel memory.
