BEWARE: Apple Software Update may Force 'Upgrade' to macOS Sonoma

re: Reader Comment: Adobe Photoshop Forcing Unwanted macOS System 'Upgrades'
OMG... widgets on my Desktop! No way?! Hooray! I feel like sunshine after rain!
As usual, MPG’s advice for non-dilettante users of macOS is to wait at least 6 months for all major Apple software updates. And then and only then consider whether there is actually anything worthwhile—almost never.
Apple may force-upgrade your system if Software Update is set to defaults. See below.
Don’t have your workflow ruined by a software update that already is showing serious bugs, on top of already serious bugs in Ventura, like Bluetooth and broken WiFi hotspots. These irresponsible people at Apple are incompetent to deliver a reliable system even 9 months after release.
An update for gaming and screensaves and widgets (Sonoma) is not something any professional should even be considering now, if ever.
BTW, do any of the geniuses at Apple realize that using a screen saver (the very FIRST feature listed, first is most important) is an anti-Green dumb energy feature that wastes electricity? If they’re a desktop background... find, but they’re touted as a screen saver, which means powering a display that need not be wasting power!

- Do NOT “upgrade” to any major new release without careful prior testing on a non-critical machine.
