MacBook Pro with Retina Display — Screen Burn-in Update
On July 3, I reported on a screen burn-in problem on my MacBook Pro Retina. On July 13, I reported that my replacement unit was fine— and it still is, having shown no sign of the problem 3 weeks later.
Apparently there are two versions of the Retina display being used by Apple, one manufactured by Samsung and one manufactured by LG.
My current MacBook Pro Retina uses the display from Samsung (LSN...).

According to reader Ian H who sent me the above Terminal command:
The output is an interpretation telling you who the manufacturer is.
LPXXXX = LG
LSNXXXX = Samsung
The problem
Unfortunately, I do NOT know which type of display was in my defective unit, as it is long gone back to Apple.
The screen shot below is from my defective unit; the replacement does not show this.
