2016 Apple MacBook

Get Apple Early 2016 MacBook at B&H Photo. MPG recommends MacBook models with 512GB SSD and ideally, MacBook models with 512GB SSD and 1.3 GHz CPU.

For travel: USB-C to USB adapter or Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter.
BEST for desktop use, the OWC USB-C Dock.

TEST UNIT: 2016 MacBook 1.3 GHz / 8GB m/ 512GB.

This test is as real world as it gets, one that diglloyd photography does day in and day out for generating lens rendering aperture series.

Benchmarks offer only vague general guidance in the context of a particular workflow, which can be influenced by many factors. Only tests of actual everyday tasks have relevance to purchase decisions.

The 2016 MacBook takes 1.8X as long as the aging 2013 MacBook Pro Retina. That’s a negligible improvement over the 1.9X factor seen with the 2015 MacBook on a similar test, suggesting that for Photoshop tasks, the 2016 model isn’t much of a win over the 2015 model.

Results here should not be directly compared to the similar test with the 2015 MacBook: different test file, different OS version, different Photoshop version.

Photoshop CC 2015 Performance Preferences at Memory Usage = 75%, Graphics Processor = Advanced, History=300/Cache Levels=4/Tile size = 1024K.
