OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD Results on 15" 2.2GHz MacBook Pro Core i7

See previous blog entry on the issues with my 17" MacBook Pro and its flaky SATA cable (presumed).

Testing will resume tonight as the 15" MacBook Pro is performing nicely with the OWC 6G SSD. These results are DiskTester fill-volume.

Test results for DiskTester fill-volume (zeroes)

Write: 471.8 MB/sec (excluding stuff at very end)
Read:  506.3 MB/sec

Outstanding! These are numbers through the Mac OS X file system, not artificial driver-level numbers. So this is what real programs “see”.

The slowdown at the very end is NOT the SSD, rather, it is a Mac OS X file system inefficiency when the drive gets near full.
